Abstract

The contemporary use of smartwatches has presented as a viable and accessible principle the out-of-hospital monitoring of physiological conditions of those who use them, including their alterations, such as atrial fibrillation (1–8). The objective of this work is to focus on exploring information on how electronic watches can help in the prior identification of atrial fibrillation. Being, data from constant literature in the great international computerized medical information vehicles, such as PubMed, Scielo, Science.gov and Capes Gov Br. Where materials that converged on the exposed question were chosen. The study was positive in finding articles that were in tune with their criticisms of the use of photoplethysmography in the detection of atrial fibrillation, as well as the limitations and the need for more advances in studies on the subject. Being favorable to the outpatient use of the devices in the identification of the arrhythmia.

Keywords: Out-of-hospital atrial fibrillation, cardiology, smartwatch.
