Abstract

Crohn's disease is a chronic inflammatory bowel disease of complex etiology. It affects any part of the gastrointestinal tract, causing symptoms such as abdominal pain, diarrhea and fatigue. It is characterized by chronic inflammation, and its complications include strictures, fistulas and abscesses. Genetic, immunological and environmental factors contribute to its development. Diagnosis is based on clinical, endoscopic and laboratory evaluations. Management includes pharmacological therapies, dietary changes and, in some cases, surgical interventions. Understanding of the disease is advancing, but its management remains a challenge for patients and health professionals. Materials and methods: a retrospective, descriptive and longitudinal case study, observational in nature, focused on Crohn's disease in a 26-year-old adult patient. Data will be obtained by means of an interview and complementary examinations. Objective: To comprehensively evaluate Crohn's disease in an adult patient, analyzing etiology, epidemiology and therapeutic options, with the purpose of improving clinical understanding and contributing to more informed care approaches.
